Client Engagement Manager
Spectrum Nonprofit Services, LLC seeks an energetic business development professional with a passion for the nonprofit sector and supporting leaders as they work toward achieving their missions and building stronger, healthier, and more enriching and equitable communities.
This full-time Client Engagement Manager (CEM) is a vital part of Spectrum Nonprofit Services’ team, shaping Spectrum’s business development approach by identifying and cultivating clients through the marketing, proposal and business development process and ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic goals. Moreover, the CEM supports the development of quality services for clients.
This position is responsible for:
Business Development (65%)
Spearhead strategic business and practice development initiatives, including client acquisition, cultivation, and retention efforts, while promoting the firm’s brand and expertise through various channels. In partnership with the Principal and Strategy Consultants, the CEM will:
- Develop and implement Spectrum’s business and practice development strategies.
- Facilitate the client intake and prospect process, including prospective client outreach, conversation scheduling, proposal and fee development, and contract development.
- Manage Spectrum’s Client Relationship Management system, HubSpot, including, but not limited to cleaning and organizing contacts, managing the deal pipeline, etc.
- Develop a cadence for re-engaging previous clients.
- Manage the close-out process, including client satisfaction surveys and report outs and client debrief discussions with project managers.
- Lead the creation of webinars, roundtables, and other events to promote the Spectrum brand and approach to strategy.
- Represent Spectrum at conferences and other networking events.
- Create engaging social media content to promote the firm’s content, sector news, client success stories, and other valuable sector contributions; support the firm’s staff in developing their own social medial presence.
- Develop quarterly and one-off topic-specific newsletters.
Training & Cohort Content Development (20%)
Develop trainings, workshops and cohort programs, while promoting these offerings to relevant organizations and associations. Partnering with the Principal, the CEM will:
- Develop ideas and content for workshops and cohorts.
- Promote the firm’s offerings to representatives from associations, membership organizations, and foundations.
- Draft training materials, including, but not limited to decks and workbooks.
Project Management Support (10%)
Provide occasional support for the Principal and Strategy consultants on individual client projects on an as-needed basis, including but not limited to:
- Survey creation, Matrix Map development and analysis, and other one-off engagements.
- Assist with the preparation and review of client deliverables, such as intermediary and final reports.
- Conducting project reviews and post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement
Administrative Operations (5%)
Manage specific administrative tasks to provide quality and consistency to Spectrum’s operations, including:
- Oversee monthly invoicing and support the Principal in monitoring organizational metrics.
- Ensure that external-facing materials such as reports, proposals, blogs, website pages, etc., are styled in alignment with Spectrum’s brand.
- Help facilitate internal meetings (i.e., staff meetings, weekly check-ins, etc.)

- Strong Communicator: Effective verbal and written communication are crucial for building and maintaining client relationships. Strong ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Attention to Detail: We are a professional services firm that takes pride in our reputation and ability to deliver clear, meaningful, and accurate client deliverables. Experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required; experience with WordPress and Canva is a plus.
- Relationship Builder: Our business is a people’s business. You must possess the ability to establish trust and rapport with nonprofit leaders and be adept at networking, active listening, and understanding client needs.
- Customer Focus: We do not offer one-size fits-all solutions. Instead, we leverage the tools and expertise of our team to develop processes that address the strategic challenges of the organizations seeking our services.
- Analytical Abilities: Understanding market trends, analyzing data, and making informed decisions are part of the role. Experience with Excel and HubSpot preferred.
- Project Management Skills: You will manage multiple projects at once and will need the ability to manage both short-term and long-term deliverables by producing quality work.

Compensation
Spectrum Nonprofit Services offers a generous compensation package including a competitive salary with incentive-based increases, health insurance with minimal employee contribution, professional development budget and liberal paid time off (PTO) commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position.
Base salary for the CEM position is $65,000 to $80,000 depending on experience with the potential for more through our incentive-based compensation program which shares revenue exceeding the employee target based on the billable percentage and firm performance.
The employee is not expected to have contacts or potential clients to bring to the firm, but will manage existing clients and work within our business development processes to develop relationships over time.
Location
We offer a hybrid working arrangement based in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin, office. Applicants are expected to work within the office two to three times a week, with flexibility to work remotely. Some travel to conferences and client engagements may be required.
